Climate, History and the Modern World. 2nd Edition. H.H.Lamb
This book was first published in 1982 with an updated version published in 1995. So some things have considerably changed since then, with leaps and bounds of technology that can help determine what or how we can stop such radical change in the climate - if we can at all.
1950 seems to have been a turning point for climate change. It is believed that after the Second World War, the climate trend started towards warming. This created a lot of attention, and the public started to wonder about what would happen to the Arctic ice, what effect would it have on crops and seeds and food. The problem is trying to find a trend in the pattern, but for now it seems to take radical swings from either hot or cold, and so it could take decades to find something substantial. Much research has shown there has been an increase in temperature and rainfall.
The changes in temperature, as small as they might me from the average, have affected the length of the growing season. Many farmers over the years have had to adapt to the growing warmth of spring and summer, and to the temperatures dropping so quick in the winter months.
While an interesting book to read, I only read a few chapters, it did provide me with information about the past and how the temperature has been rising for a long, long time, with the increase in rainfalls too. All seasons getting more extreme as time passes, a long with the weather.
