The Age Of Stupid Documentary

This thought provoking documentary/ drama asks the question: "Why didn't we stop climate change when we still had the chance?" Pete Postlethwaite stars as a archivist, looking back on footage from real life events that happened in the world leading up to 2015 before the runaway climate change took place.

Written up notes:

2005 third low cost airline launched in India
101 degrees - highest temperature
Floods
Driest summer
18 countries under water
150 metres of glacier melting, since 1945. Adding ladders going down every year because of this.
In 50 years no more skiing - as there will be no more snow
Our world is deterating
Winter turns into summer, with not much in between
(When I was younger, there used to be blossom on the trees around my birthday, which is when I new it was nearly birthday, but then over time the blossom, did not come til much later on)
Hurricanes getting stronger - wiping out whole cities
"Lets Dance" - Hurricane Katrina
It is our fault - no doubt about it
Level of greenhouse gases at an all time high and there is no going back
Does OIL run the world?
A percent of Shell profits were meant to go back to the country it is working from - but it is no where to be seen - started building health care centre - but stopped due to claims of kidnapping?? but where is the money going now?
"The resource curse?"
The same advertising company who advertised "smoking is healthy" is the same for the "adding doubt to climate change"
Number of people are 5 times over since oil founded
WAR - IRAQ - OIL
Children re-enacting war scenes very graphical and in so much detail - dragging brother across the road, covering his face with a cloth before pretending to kick his face...THIS IS WRONG - no child should no this much!
USA pretty much depends on oil
We always want more from our planet.. more more more
Sunlight - we don't need electricity when it is out - why are we taught this
China building a new power stations every four days - making cheap toys which are shipped all over the world - they break and get sent back to china to their landfill which the toys will sit their for billions of years
Water bottles - 42 million every day - why not use a tap?
Destroying the planet is written in the system
USA is the biggest consumer
Flying is the worst way of effecting climate change - bar a forest fire it creates the most pollution
Just because everyone else is doing it why should you?
No single source will "cure it" - it needs a combination of everything. Use what we have now to solve the problem
Wind turbines - not being put up because people do not like the look of them, they say it will ruin the landscape
Global Cap
Carbon currency = rationing energy?
We know how to profit but not protect
Is it too late??
