Glaciers melting
Rise in extreme weather events - hurricane Katrina; extreme flooding; forest fires
Massive energy needs as the population increases
Oil is in everything - products; clothes; packaging
We are not finding any new oil
Getting more expensive to extract
Quality of life is what we want - a good life
Strong oil lobby - USA influence
War over resources - they are becoming more common
Consumerism - started in the 1950s?
Food transport
Growth in population
What are the solutions?
Are there any?
Are all countries wanting to do something?
USA are they interesting in finding renewable resources? because if they did every country would be equal to each other - but someone somewhere always wants to be the one in charge..so would this ever happen?
China is building more power stations than ever before, to keep up with the demand of consumerism - people wanting to buy cheap toys but they do not last long meaning they get thrown away quickly and new toys are brought - just going around in circles. Supply and demand - demand and supply.
In 2008 the top carbon dioxide Co2 emitters were China, USA, Europe, India, Japan and Canada.
Changing in the landscape can also change the Co2 emissions as de-forestation can make a huge impact. It is thought to be one of the highest contributions to emissions.
