I found this box, which did not originally hold bottles but candles, but I thought it still kind of fitted in by it being packaging of a box.
So the box looked like this when closed. The handle slots in between two panels on either side of the box which as slots in. I think this looks very neat and tidy, and works well with keeping its shape.
Once opened you can see the shape, its very plain, there is no structure inside or anything to hold the product in place.
Here shows where the glue was used to stick the cardboard together. As you can see once took a part it was actually two pieces of card stuck together, which I do not think would work with heavier products like beer bottles.
The shows a second piece, that was used my Tesco delivery to deliver the bottles of alcohol. This was ade of thicker card than the last one, showing it was made to last.
From the top, this shows slots that are in place to keep the bottles from being damaged in transport. Though this only at the top and not at the bottom.
The bottom shows that the cardbaord slots into each other creating a thick string layer of cardboard at the bottom, supporting the weight of bottles.
I also included this to show that it folds down into a flat pack, which was part of the brief.
The pink highlight shows where the glue was, again there was quite a few places where the glue was situated but I think it was used quite sparingly, as there are only a few lines and spots unlike some I have looked at where is pretty much covered the whole surface.
This was an interesting find, as the sections were staggered at different heights, making it look quite interesting, though it had no colour (apart from white) and no branding, making it very plain.
From the top you can see there are four squares making up the set up of the packaging. It also shows the handle having two layers of cardboard stuck together to make a strong sturdy handle.
The bottom of the packagings shows an over lap of the edges, slotting together to create a think layer of cardboard, to support the weight of the bottles.
Here shows the net of the box which as you can see uses quite a bit of glue (highlighted pink). But is one piece of cardboard which reduces the amount of waste of the product.
Looking at all the packaging I found, they all have different elements making them different in shape and strength. They all said they were 100% recyclable, made from recyclable materials. But none had an alternate use once used. They all used glue to help keep the structure in shape and support the weight of the bottles.
